Children

amy (3 years)

Amy was born with hydrocephalus. Unfortunately the family had no funds to treat her, hence she is three years old and has not been treated yet. Because her head was so heavy, she was not able to walk or even crawl. However, talking goes well. October 2008 Amy has been treated for hydrocephalus. Time will tell if the situation has caused mental retardation as well.

This serious malnourished girl received since June 2007 a bag of powdered milk and vitamin syrup. Her mother unfortunately did not adhere to the agreement to weigh her regularly at a medical center. Additionaly, there were doubts the powdered milk was really used for Ngoye, this year we decided to supply the powdered milk through another contact. Mame Fatim (14 years old) made a drink of milk, sugar and a bit of oil for Ngoye every day. Furthermore she received vitamin syrup regularly.

He had surgery of the hips, which improved his situation significantly. Each day he was able to sit a few hours. Unfortunately this autumn he suffered from bedsores again. We are trying to negotiate support again.

mame debo (9 years)

Born: 1999
Mame Debo suffered from a hole in the palate, causing sever malnutrition (17 months old she only weighed 5 kg). In 2004 and 2005 she has had surgery three times. During the final operation the hole had been closed almost completely. Speaking is however still difficult. In 2007 she received a kind of speech therapy. The malnutrition caused mental retardation and she started primary school at a relatively old age. From October 2007 to January 2008 she went to a private school to make up for the backlog. The aunt she started living with was not prepared to bring her to school. Therefore she had to stay at home. Because Debo suffered from pain to her teeth, July 2008 some rotten baby teeth and cheek-teeth were pulled. Debo is living with her mother again. Hopefully this means she will be able to go to school again.

Mothers

Adama sembene

The mother of Assane and Oussanou (twins) gave birth to a healthy son this October. Because she had twins earlier, the foundation paid for an ultrasound to determine if she was pregnant with multiple children. It turned out she was pregnant with one child. Apart from the ultrasound, she received an allowance for some medication concerning the delivery.

DIOR FALL

This mother of three had problems with blood pressure and received medication.

Daba Faye

The mother of Mamour gave birth to a healthy son April 2008. Because the father disappears every time his wife is pregnant, the foundation contributed in the costs of the delivery.
