Mamour2013.05 Mamour

Mamour (11 years old), has received new prostheses with help from the Liliane Foundation. When he was two years old, he lost both legs in a train accident. Using prostheses and crutches he can walk making him much more self-reliant than with a wheelchair in the sand. He also goes to school himself. (Stichting Petite Cobi facilitates the hospital appointments and pays for the travel expenses).

OussainouOussaïnou

Oussaïnou (10 years old) is an old friend of the foundation. He has broken his wrist in April after an accidental fall while playing soccer. Because it was a nice break, gypsum was not necessary. Soon he will go back to check the neurologist. End of 2008, he had an accident when a wall collapsed. Unfortunately he has frequent headaches and experiences a lot of dizziness. Expenses: 16 euros for consultation, x-rays and medications.

Fatou Binta

Fatoumata Binta (6 years old), is still waiting for her hernia operation. Her blood levels were  not good, making that her hernia operation has not yet been scheduled. To date she receives medication and she will soon  undergo new analyzes to see whether she strong enough for surgery.

Ndeye Fatou en Fatoumata Bineta

The wife of one of our volunteers in Senegal, Fatou Ndeye (18 years old) gave birth by cesarean on Monday, May 13th in Tivaouane of a girl, Fatoumata Bineta. It was a planned caesarean because hydrocephalus (water on the brain) was observed on the ultrasound. Meanwhile, the baby had a brain scan in Thiès, which showed that her brain is probably intact. Most likely an operation in Dakar will follow, currently we are waiting for the opinion of the neurologist. Expenses thus far: 61 euros for the brain scan and transport communication costs.

Marie

Marie (almost four years old), has a serious disease that affects her right eye. In early 2012 she had a small spot on her eye, which the family did not took action on immediately. When it had become worse, she was referred to the hospital in Thiès. After several studies, she was sent to one of the national hospitals in Dakar, which referred to the next hospital and again the next. There she underwent a brain scan, and they are preparing her for surgery to save her left eye.                                                  Expenses so far: 61 euros for the brain scan, 10 euros for medications. The operation will cost approximately 500 euros.

After a few weeks taking it slow he will be able to play (without any pain) with his friends again.

Mame Lena

Mame Lena (10 years old) has undergone her first intestinal surgery in 2010. Unfortunately there was no money to fix the temporary stoma solution. In 2012, she had surgery for this twice. In 2013, she is still under treatment at the hospital.
